Yesterday during a particularly boring lesson (not my choice of course - but one that the teacher left for me to do), my students were actually pretending to fall asleep. I was tempted to let them get away with it.
After working in both an emergency room and the public school system I really do believe in full moons. They effect people. Yesterday the school secretary ran out of ice at recess. (entering the twilight zone)

Kindergarteners sometimes freak out when a sub shows up. Sometimes I talk to them about how thier teacher and I are alike and different just to calm thier fears.

ME: How are Ms. Smith and I different?
Student: She has black hair and you have short hair.
Another Student: Your neck is bigger than hers.
Another Student: Yeah, like a giraffe.
Another Student: Yeah, you look like a giraffe.

So you can see where this conversation was going. I stopped them short before they went on to other body parts.

The best part of today was watching "Finding Nemo". It's a tough job but someone has to do it.
